PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a composition containing a homogeneous protein by selectively bonding a water-soluble polymer to the N-terminal of the protein. SOLUTION: The method for producing the composition containing the substantially homogeneous stable protein of a monopolymer/protein conjugate involves selectively modifying anα-amino acid at the N-terminal of the protein with a polyethylene glycol by using a reductive alkylation reaction using a reducing agent such as sodium borohydride and sodium cyanoborohydride.
