From a predetermined voltage (Uf), established by the battery terminals, the battery is charged and discharged at predetermined voltages (Uf + DeltaUf1) and (Uf - Delta Uf2) respectively, during the predetermined times (tc) and (td) respectively, and from the expiration of these times, the charge ( I c) and discharge (I d) currents are measured. From the state of the charge (EDC) of the battery a pre-established relation connecting Log (Id/Ic) to this charge state (EDC) is determined.
