PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a manufacturing cost by making a system compact. SOLUTION: The imaging system and method for actuating the imaging system includes a medium support surface for supporting a printing plate during recording of an image on the printing plate, a leading edge clamping mechanism for securing the leading edge of the printing plate to the medium support surface, and a trailing edge clamping mechanism for securing the trailing edge of the printing plate to the medium support surface. The actuating system is used for actuating both of the leading edge clamping mechanism and the trailing edge clamping mechanism. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
