PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bead plate for a metal gasket, surely allowing a sealing material to bear a role as a stopper. SOLUTION: A bead 13 of the bead plate 11, shown in Fig. (b), is in an upward protruded shape but foot portions on both sides thereof are formed as recessed portions (upward recessed portions, shown in Fig.) 15. The thickness of a coating material 14 includes the recessed portion 15 on the reverse of the bead 13 and thick portions 14a, 14b, 14c at the recessed portion 15, thicker than other portions. When the bead plate 11 is held between a cylinder head and a cylinder block and tightened, the bead 13 is crushed and deformed but, after it is deformed in a predetermined amount, the thick portions 14a, 14b, 14c are served as stoppers to prevent further deformation thereof.
