An ultrasonic oscillator (38) with an acoustic vibratory transmitter sets a doctor blade (26) oscillating at a frequency of 1 Hertz or more in the direction of the doctor blade's longitudinal axis. The travel of the oscillator is less than 0.2 mm. The doctor blade forms part of a doctor blade chamber. An Independent claim is also included for a roller printing machine.
