Evaporators are operated by heat extracted from a process bath cooling water. The installation incorporates a rinsing water circulation system (2) comprising a distillate collector tank (D), rinsing baths (S1, S2), and an evaporator unit (VD1, VD2). It also incorporates a cooling water circulation system for cooling at least on process bath (B, E), and a heat exchanger unit (WT1, WT2) for extraction of heat from the cooling water, for operation of the evaporators (VD1, VD2) with this heat. Preferred Features: Collector tanks (SP1, SP2) are located between the rinsing baths (S1, S2) and the evaporator unit (VD1, VD2). Each such collector tank is provided with its own evaporator unit. The heat exchanger units (WT1, WT2) have a common buffer tank (P1) intermediate storage of the heat extracted from the water cooling the process baths (B, E). Further items (R) utilizing heat stored in the tank (P1) are joined to the latter.
