Webs of textile material are connected to one another by means of a thermoadhesive thread having a flexible core and a heat-sealable covering. The endless thread (9) is drawn continuously through a heating device (11), the covering of the thread softening. The hot, superficially softened thread is brought between two textile webs (1, 2) running at 10 to 100 m/min, and the assembly as a whole is pressed together, preferably between rollers (8). The adhesive thread used is one in which the core has a linear density of 50 to 3000 Denier and a strength of at least 0.9 g/den (at 65% relative humidity/20 DEG C). The covering contains a film-forming polymer and an adhesive resin; it has a viscosity of 200 to 4000 P in a temperature range of 70 to 200 DEG C. The process makes a simple and permanent connection of the textile webs possible; the adhesive thread is heated once only, and then there is no longer any need for the supply of heat. <IMAGE> |
