<p>N-substd.-beta-(o-sulphobenzoic acid)-imido-glutarimides of formula (I) are sedatives and immunosuppressants. (where R is H; free, esterified or etherified oxy- or mercapto-; amino-, carboxyl-, or halo-substd. 1-6C alkyl or alkylene; or aralkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl). Prepn. is by reaction of new beta-(o-sulphobenzoic acid)-imidoglutaric acid with an amine H2N. R or a compd. forming the amine under the reaction conditions; or by heating the mono- or di-amide of the acid with a ring-closing agent, e.g. acetic anhydride, acetyl chloride, SOCl2, etc.</p> |
