HEAD SLIDER AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME

A pair of slits (35) are defined in a slider body (22) of a head slider. The slits (35) extend from a trailing end surface to the leading end on the slider body (22). A movable block (38) is established in the slider body (22) between the slits (35). The slits (35) ensure the extent of movement for the movable block (38). Elongated plates (44) enable a relative displacement between the movable block (38) and a stationary block (37). A head element (23) is mounted on a trailing end surface of the movable block (38). The thickness of a non-magnetic layer corresponds to the gap length of the head element (23). The gap length of the head element can easily be controlled based on deposition of the non-magnetic layer. The thickness of the non-magnetic layer can be reduced in a relatively facilitated manner, so that the gap length of the head element can easily be minimized. The movable block (38) having the mass remarkably smaller than that of the slider body (22) enables a fine and swift movement of the head element (23). <IMAGE>
