PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boom and a rig for a sailing boat easy to operate and free to save energy. SOLUTION: The boom 1 capable of drawing in and re-extending a jib sail 5 is devised by furnishing equipment to develop the jib sail 5 and a main sail 11 front and back and to control drawing of a jib seat 3. Additionally a rotary rig using the boom 1 is constituted durable for use on an actual boat. Furthermore, it is devised to eliminate a defect the rotary rig has. Consequently, the rig capable of displaying the same power as a conventional sloop rig and to be operated with a small number of crews is realized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
