An assembly of a suspension system and an object, for instance a cupboard, to be suspended with this suspension system, comprising at least one supporting element (4), which is fastened against a back (2) of the object, and at least one suspension device (5), which is fastened against a wall (3). The suspension device comprises a fastening plate (7) and a bearing member (6), the orientation and position of which can be adapted by means of adjusting means (10,12). Position deviations of the suspension devices, caused during the fastening of these suspension devices against the wall, may thus be compensated for, even before the object is suspended from these suspension devices, so that the object always comes to be suspended in the desired position in the desired orientation. If required, the suspension devices may also be readjusted after the cupboard has been suspended therefrom. To this end, the cupboard is provided with openings (42) that permit access to the adjusting means, and which, after readjustment, can be covered with suitably provided cover plates (44). <IMAGE>
