PURPOSE: A method for saving power of a portable phone is provided to check a voice channel only without checking a data channel, and to change a cycle of a sleep mode in a call standby state of the portable phone using a hybrid mode, thereby reducing power consumption of a battery. CONSTITUTION: In a call standby state(101), a controller checks a voice channel only(102). When a voice call signal is transmitted while repeatedly checking the voice channel during one frame, the controller senses the voice call signal(103), and generates a ring signal through an audio processor to make a call(104). The controller senses that the call is completed(105). If data is requested, the controller senses the data request(106), and enables a user to connect with the data(107). The controller repeatedly checks the voice channel during one frame through a paging channel(108). The controller senses that a voice call signal is transmitted(109), generates a ring signal, and makes a call(110). When the call is completed, the controller senses the call completion(111). |
