PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device of a reflection display type not being accompanied by light emission, realizing a low power consumption, and also capable of being utilized as a large display device for outdoor use. SOLUTION: The display is provided with: a fixed element 100 having a transparent part 1 and provided with a 1st electrode; a moving element 200 which has colored parts 3, 4 and is arranged in front of or behind the fixed element and provided with a 2nd electrode; and a driving mechanism for controlling the position of the moving element 200 with respect to the fixed element 100 for every pixel by the electrostatic force generated between both electrodes by applying control voltage across the 1st and 2nd electrodes. Display is performed by reflecting ambient light made incident to the colored parts 3, 4 of the moving element 200 via the transparent part 1 of the fixed element 100. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
