PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder of a small size capable of sensing the residual amount of sheets at low cost and provide an image forming device equipped with such a sheet feeder. SOLUTION: A bottom plate 4 installed in a sheet accommodating means 3 to admit stacking of sheets S and rotatable in the direction of pressing the sheets S to a sheet feeding means 2 is pushed up by a rotary member 5 so as to press the sheets S to the sheet feeding means 2. A residual amount sensing means equipped with an electric conductive member moving with the rotation of the rotary member 5 and a circuit board 12 furnished with a plurality of printed patterns contacting with the conductive member and sensing the residual amount of the sheets S accommodated in the sheet accommodating means 3 on the basis of the rotating angle of the rotary member 5 when the bottom plate 4 is rotated and the sheets S are pressed to the sheet feeding means 2 sense the residual amount of the sheets by changing the printed patterns where the conductive member contacts in association with the rotation of the rotary member 5.
