<p>A multi-color writing instrument such as a ballpoint pen or mechanical pencil, which is adapted such that a selection of a writing color can be easily performed even in a gloomy place or even by a person with poor eyesight. The writing instrument comprises plurality of reservoir tubes (5) having different writing colors are accommodated in a barrel (4). Operating portions (9) are provided on the reservoir tubes and are exposed outside the barrel. A specific one of the reservoir tubes can be selected for use by touch feeling means (16) provided on the operating portions of the reservoir tubes.
