<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display with which image retention is reduced and a yield is improved. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display comprises a TFT (thin film transistor) substrate with thin film transistors formed in a matrix on a transparent substrate and a color filter substrate with a black matrix, a counter electrode and color material layers with red, blue and green three colors formed thereon stuck to each other and a liquid crystal material injected between both substrates. A distance between the color material layers is narrowed and a width of the color material layer is widened. By using this kind of the color filter, an abnormal alignment region is shielded because end faces of the color material layer recede from edges of black matrix opening parts. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
