PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption of a thermal valve, in a controlling method of the thermal valve 7 provided with a thermal expanding element 72 heated and expanded by a heater 74 and opening/closing a valve element 71 by expansion/contraction of the thermal expanding element 73. SOLUTION: Till a specified starting time T1 elapses since an opening order of the thermal valve 7 is issued, the heater 74 is energized with a specified voltage required for expanding the thermal expanding element 73 so as to open the thermal valve 7, and during opening of the thermal valve 7, energizing the heater 74 is intermittently stopped in a range capable of keeping the thermal expanding element 73 at the expanding state. After a lapse of the starting time T1, energizing voltage to the heater 74 can be lowered. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
