PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an alkylene oxide-based acid- pendant type curable resin for obtaining a curable resin composition having excellent storage stability and a wide control range of development. SOLUTION: The acid-pendant type curable resin is produced by reacting a polybasic acid anhydride (e) with a resin obtained by partially adding an unsaturated group-containing monocarboxylic acid (d) to a reaction product (c) of a compound (a) having there or more phenolic hydroxy groups in the molecule with an alkylene oxide (b), where a metal salt of an organic acid is used as an esterification catalyst for the reaction of the polybasic acid anhydride (e).
