摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the degradation level of a continuously variable transmission, particularly the degradation level of a power transmission member such as a belt. <P>SOLUTION: This control device for the continuously variable transmission is composed by interlaying the power transmission member for mediating transmission of torque between an input member and an output member. The control device is equipped with a degradation detection means (step S11) for detecting the degradation level of the power transmission member causing decrease of the transmission amount of power through the power transmission member. When the power transmission member is degraded, the transmission of power is disordered, however, the degradation level of the power transmission member is detected as a cause of the disorder of the power transmission so that control corresponding to the degradation level of the power transmission member can be carried out. Thereby, power transmission efficiency of the continuously variable transmission is improved, or damage disabling the use of the continuously variable transmission or the like is prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
