PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber in which a coating layer can be partially removed without damaging the optical fiber body. SOLUTION: The optical fiber 1 for forming an optical fiber grating is composed of an optical fiber body 2, a primary coating layer 3 covering the fiber body 2 and containing a cured product of a resin and a plasticizer, and a secondary coating layer 4 covering the fiber body 2 over the primary coating layer 3, containing a cured product of a resin and having higher Young's modulus than that of the primary coating layer 3.
