PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for UV bonding of a polarization beam splitter (PBS), by which method the deterioration in the transmittance of a polarizing member by UV light, in bonding the polarizing member and an adherend by a UV curing resin is ameliorated. SOLUTION: The method for UV bonding of the PBS 13 comprises curing an adhesive 14 consisting of the UV curing resin applied between a light exit surface of the PBS 13 and one surface of the adherend 15 by the polarized light reflected by a reflection film 13F of the PBS among the beams of the UV light to be cast to the light incident surface of the PBS, in which a polarizing plate 12A inserted between the light incident surface side of the PBS and a UV irradiator 11 for irradiating the incident surface with the UV light to remove one of the P polarized light and S polarized light of the UV light and to remove the P polarized light of the UV light. The above light incident surface is irradiated with the other polarized light outputted from the polarizing plate, by which the deterioration of the transmittance of the PBS by the irradiation with the one polarized light removed by the polarizing plate is averted.
