PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a butterfly valve having a water filling function for supplying a fixed flow rate of water with a small opening. SOLUTION: This butterfly valve 1 has a valve casing sealing ring 3 disposed in a valve casing 2, a valve body 6 slidably contacting with the valve casing sealing ring 3 at a fully closed position and a pair of disk tail parts 14a, 14b attached on the back side of the valve body 6 in a rotary direction at the time of an opening operation. The valve body 6 comprises a disc-like body part 9 and a plate-like circumferential plate part 10 formed on an outer circumference of the body part 9 and thinner than the body part 9. Disk tail parts 14a, 14b are formed on the circumferential plate part 10 and have spherically curved outer circumferential surfaces slidably contacting with the valve casing sealing ring 3. Water holes 16 are formed in the disk tail parts 14a, 14b adjacent to the circumferential plate part 10, and the outer circumferential surfaces of the disk tail parts 14a, 14b slidably contact with the valve casing sealing ring 3 when the valve body 6 is in a small opening C.
