PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition device for a DC/DC converter type internal combustion engine wherein increasing a life of a circuit part by preventing a capacitor for ignition from being held for a long time in a state of charging being completed. SOLUTION: A time needed for one rotation of an internal combustion engine is measured and by decreasing a time needed for charging a capacitor 4 for ignition to a predetermined target voltage from the measured time, a pressure rising operation stop time is computed. During a pressure rising operation stop time from a time when an ignition signal Vi is given to a switch 5 for discharge at an ignition timing, pressure rising operation of the DC/DC converter 2 is stopped and when measurement of the pressure rising operation stop time is completed, pressure rising operation of the DC/DC converter 2 is started to start charging of the capacitor 4 for ignition.
