PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an appropriate voltage setting method capable of setting an optimal driving voltage even in a recording head capable of recording in a high frequency region. SOLUTION: When an appropriate voltage is set for an ink jet recording head having a piezoelectric oscillator causing a pressure variation of ink liquid in a pressure chamber and ejecting an ink drop from a nozzle opening by supplying a driving pulse ro the piezoelectric oscillator, two measuring points A1 and A2 are set at an interval of Td/2 in the measuring range Td such that an average frequency fav becomes a maximum working frequency fmax, and the appropriate voltage of the driving pulse is determined from the quantity of ink at each measuring point acquired by supplying a driving pulse for measurement TP.
