PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and flexibly compensate a change in the position of a printing cylinder due to bending without taking mechanical steps for compensation, by securing quality of rotary printing, in terms of a printing characteristic curve or a transfer characteristic curve, particularly, in planographic offset printing. SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing a press plate on a press plate holding body, before the manufacture of the press plate, the press plate holding body is split, in terms of calculation technology, in the width of the press plate holding body, that is, an axial length; each single instantaneous transfer characteristic curve, which is identified for each of partial areas Pos 1, Pos 2, Pos 2', Pos 3 and Pos 3' into which the press plate holding body is split, is compared with the set printing characteristic curve which is preset in terms of the calculation technology; and a difference between the instantaneous characteristic curve and the set characteristic curve associated with the respective rounding partial areas Pos 1, Pos 2, Pos 2', Pos 3 and Pos 3' of the press plate holding body is used to be compensated in such a manner that image data inherent in the above apparatus are corrected in terms of the calculation technology.
