PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a cycloolefin copolymer less in a residual catalyst by removing in a simplified way the catalyst residue, which causes coloring and decomposition, from a solution of the cycloolefin copolymer. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the cycloolefin copolymer from anα-olefin and a ring-structured olefin having two or more carbon-carbon double bonds in the presence of a metallocene catalyst, the solution of the reaction product is subjected to a contact filtration method or a fixed bed method to put the catalyst residue into contact with an adsorbent and to remove it.
