<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system that stably converge an engine speed to a target idle speed by setting a dynamic reference revolution speed based on a transition of the engine speed and controlling the engine speed according to the dynamic reference revolution speed. <P>SOLUTION: The method for controlling an idle speed of an engine by actuating an idle speed actuator (ISA) includes an engine speed detecting step of detecting a current engine speed W, a dynamic reference revolution speed calculating step of calculating a dynamic reference revolution speed W<SB>d</SB>based on the detected current engine speed W, a target ISA opening calculating step of calculating a target ISA opening OP based on the dynamic reference revolution speed and the engine speed, and an ISA actuating step of actuating the ISA according to the calculated target ISA opening. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
