PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce NOx and PM simultaneously by forming a stratification EGR formed of outside exhaust gas by using inside new air in a cylinder 2 in a uniflow type two cycle internal combustion engine comprising exhaust valves 6 for emitting exhaust gas from the cylinder 2, disposed on top of the cylinder 2 with a built-in piston 3, and scavenging ports 9 and 10 for scavenging the inside of the cylinder 2, disposed at the lower section of the cylinder 2, respectively. SOLUTION: A pair of the scavenging ports 9 and 10 are arranged at least on both of the right and left side of the cylinder 2 and are opposed to each other so that the intake air sent from each of the scavenging ports 9 and 10 to the inside of the cylinder 2 collide on each other at nearly central position.
