PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet printer in which failure of ink ejection and missing of image information is prevented in a printing process by providing a mechanism for preventing an ink carriage from shifting to the main scanning direction when moving a color inkjet printer again. SOLUTION: A serial inkjet printer is provided with a mechanism 16 for locking the ink carriage 14 moving in the main scanning direction. The ink carriage lock mechanism comprises a sheet feed guide 12a projecting from one side end of a sheet feed tray 12 turning about the rear end of the upper surface of a cabinet 11 through a hinge. The sheet feed tray is switched between a position for unlocking the ink carriage from the sheet feed guide when the color inkjet printer is used and a position for locking the ink carriage with the sheet feed guide when the color inkjet printer is not used.
