PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine which reduces labor in the assembly of a driving means for driving a thread cutter mechanism and a presser bar lifter mechanism, and brings about a reduction in cost, savings in space and an improvement in beauty. SOLUTION: This sewing machine is equipped with: a sewing-machine head 1 which is composed of a sewing-machine bed 2, a sewing-machine vertical body 3 and a sewing-machine arm 4; the thread cutter mechanism 10; the presser bar lifter mechanism 30; and the driving means for driving both the mechanisms 10 and 30. A single stepping motor 6 is used as the driving means, and arranged near a rear side wall 3a of the body 3. The turning and driving force of the stepping motor 6 is transferred to the mechanisms 10 and 30 via a cam member, a thread-cutter coupling member and a presser-bar-lifter coupling member, so as to drive both the mechanisms 10 and 30.
