<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen separation membrane apparatus having a hydrogen separation membrane having a large surface area per unit volume and an excellent hydrogen separation capacity. <P>SOLUTION: The hydrogen separation membrane apparatus is equipped with the hydrogen separation membrane and a porous support for supporting the same and separates gas rich in hydrogen from a hydrogen-containing fluid. This hydrogen separation membrane apparatus is equipped with the columnar porous support 2 having open cells through which the hydrogen-containing fluid flows from one end face 2a to the other end face 2b of the support 2, a plurality of cavity parts 4 provided in the porous support 2 along a fluid flowing direction, the hydrogen separation membranes 8 formed on the inner walls of the cavity parts 4, a cover layer 3 covering the outer surface of the porous support 2 airtightly and a means for taking out the gas rich in hydrogen, which is separated in the cavity parts 4 from the hydrogen-containing fluid flowing through the porous support 2 through the hydrogen separation membranes 8, to the outside of the porous support 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
