1328199 Continuous casting CONCAST AG 19 April 1971 [26 March 1970] 25085/71 Heading B3F The butt joints between the plates, e.g. of copper and water-cooled, defining the cavity of a mould (possibly adjustable) are covered by a layer applied to surfaces of the plates facing the interior of the cavity to prevent metal entering gaps between the plates particularly at commencement of casting. The covering may be a strip of adhesive tape, e.g. of plastics material or metal, or be a film coating of cellulose ester varnish or synthetic resin applied as a two component liquid. The metal may melt at the rising surface of the cast metal pool or be an alloy of high melting point. A strip of non- adhesive foil, which does not burn or melt, may be stretched over the joints. |
