PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for neutralizing alkaline drainage by which alkaline drainage produced in a large amount can be efficiently neutralized by gaseous carbon dioxide without using a sealed tank. SOLUTION: Gaseous carbon dioxide 4 is supplied from the bottom of a tank 1 into the alkaline drainage 2 introduced into the tank 1 with the whole or a part of the liquid surface open, while the gaseous carbon dioxide 4 cumulating above the water surface of the alkaline drainage 2 in the tank 1 is again supplied from the bottom of the tank 1.
