摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facility and a method for continuously casting a thin slab with which in the case of casting the slab having≤100 mm thickness at≥5 m/min casting speed, the stable casting can be performed by restraining the variation of the upper surface of molten metal in a mold. SOLUTION: In the facility for continuously casting the thin slab, in which the fluidity of molten steel in the mold is controlled with a DC static magnetic field or a low frequency AC magnetic field by using electromagnetic force or a static magnetic field by using a permanent magnet, faced to the magnetic poles in the thickness direction of the mold, the thickness of the slab is made to≤100 mm and the casting speed is made to≥5 m/min, and the magnetic pole shape surrounding an immersion nozzle 1 is formed as almost U-shape and also, a distance A between the immersion nozzle 1 and the magnetic pole 6 is made to≤300 mm.
