PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine capable of easily confirming an area constituting a sewing pattern and changing the thread tension value of an arbitrary part in the area. SOLUTION: A sewing machine (1) of the present invention performs a sewing operation by adjusting a thread tension applied to a stitching thread in response to a thread tension value set for every area of a plurality of areas constituting a stitching pattern. A figure (70) having needle location points of the stitching patterns connected in an order of needle location is displayed at a display device (21). An operator selects a desired needle location point in reference to this figure to cause a figure of area including the selected needle location point to be displayed under a manner different from that in another area. The operator can set a thread tension value of a part where the order of thread dropping is behind the selected needle location point. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
