PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use the soil to be treated as a reclaiming material, a backfilling material or a banking material without exerting a bad influence on the environment even if a cement-based material or a lime-based material is added to the soil to be treated. SOLUTION: This method for treating an alkali metal containing object comprises a step to jet a granular body 6 of dry ice toward the soil 2 which is to be treated and is positioned at the traveling tip of a bulldozer 3 while smoothing the soil 2 carried in a waste disposal site 1 by the bulldozer 3 and bring the soil 2 into contact with the body 6 or the gaseous carbon dioxide sublimed from the body 6 so that a coating film of calcium carbonate can be formed on the surface of a soil particle or a soil clod 21 of the soil 2, and a step to compact the body 6-scattered soil 2 on which the bulldozer 3 is made to pass by a rolling/pressing heavy machine 7. The soil 2 is buried successively in the site 1 for reclamation while being brought into contact with the body 6 or the gaseous carbon dioxide sublimed from the body 6. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
