PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cyclone type dust collecting apparatus which can readily discharge dust in a dust box and a vacuum cleaner incorporating the same. SOLUTION: A filter holder of a substantially cylindrical shape is concentrically provided in the dust box body of a substantially cylindrical shape, a cyclone space of a substantially cylindrical shape is formed between the inner peripheral surface of the dust box body and the outer peripheral surface of the filter holder, and a dust storage space of a substantially cylindrical shape is formed under the cyclone space. The bottom surface of the dust storage space is provided with a bottom cover rotatably supported by a hinge so as to open/close an aperture of the bottom surface, and further, the bottom cover is integrally formed with a rising wall close to the inner peripheral surface of the dust box body.
