CARRIER AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR, AND CATALYST BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a directly carrying ceramic carrier making the deterioration in a catalyst caused by thermal duration small, maintaining high catalytic performance for the long term, and suppressing the characteristic change in a ceramic base material.

SOLUTION: At least one or more elements constituting the ceramic base material such as cordierite is substituted with elements such as W to obtain a ceramic body having at least one of the elements directly carrying a catalyst component and fine pores. These elements or the fine pores are arranged only in the outermost layer part of the ceramic body (the depth corresponding to 1,000 of a unit crystal lattice or less), as a result, the catalyst body hardly causing thermal deterioration and having little effect on the characteristic of the ceramic body is provided.
