<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus to which a cross section in an optional direction can properly be set in a relation with a noticing tissue within a subject. <P>SOLUTION: The inside of the subject is three-dimensionally scanned by a 3D probe to acquire echo information in a three-dimensional area and it is stored in a volume memory. From this echo information, the tomograms 202a, 202b and 202c of the three orthogonal cross sections of the three- dimensional area are formed and displayed. A user designates three reference points on these tomograms 202a, 202b and 202c. The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus sets a surface which passes through these three reference points to be an 'optional cross section'. Then, by reading the echo information at each point on this optional cross section from the volume memory, the tomogram 206 of the optional cross section is formed and displayed. Further, by omitting echo information on the side of a view point compared with the set optional cross section from volume rendering arithmetic, a three-dimensional image is formed avoiding obstacles. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
