PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new tea tree branch-pruning machine which can avoid the development of an overload on a crushing or shredding means to prevent its failure, and can eliminate a work speed difference caused by different workers, and whose power can maximally be brought out by anyone, and to provide a method therefore. SOLUTION: This method for pruning the tea tree branches, comprising loading the crushing or shredding means, such as a chipper 5, for crushing or shredding the branches and stems of the tea trees on a travel machine frame 2, and then pruning the tea trees, is characterized by disposing detection sensors, such as rotary detection sensors S1, S2, for detecting the load state of the crushing or shredding means, and controlling the travel machine frame to reduce its travel speed, when a load detected with at least the detection sensor is larger than a prescribed value.
