PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for safely, efficiently and surely fumigating a thatched roof up to the inside. SOLUTION: The method for fumigating the thatched roof comprises blowing out via a flexible duct 3 on the surface of the thatched roof 5 a mixed gas stream of hot air and pyroligneous acid vapor produced from a pyroligneous acid vapor generator 2 made up of a hot air source comprising a fan 17 and a heater 18 and a pyroligneous acid evaporation chamber 11 with one end connected to the exit of the hot air source, functioning to heat and evaporate pyroligneous acid fed while spraying under pressure followed by mixing with the hot air and then feeding the mixed gas to the exit on the other end.
