PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of dressing times, improve operation efficiency of a facility and extend a grinding wheel service life in regard to grinding of a workpiece by a grinding wheel. SOLUTION: Grinding is carried out by changing either one of a rotating direction (or a moving direction) of the workpiece or a rotating direction of the grinding wheel and mutually changing between up cut grinding and down cut grinding. By this, since abrasive grain is ground in the down cut grinding even when the abrasive grain is flattened in the up cut grinding, an effect same as dressing can be provided without dressing.
