Process for aromatics alkylation employing zeolite beta prepared by the in-extrudate method

A process for the alkylation of an aromatic hydrocarbon which comprises contacting the aromatic hydrocarbon with an C2-C4 olefin alkylating agent under at least partial liquid phase conditions, in the presence of a catalyst comprising zeolite beta prepared by an in-extrudate method. The alkylation products comprise cumene or ethylbenzene.
