PURPOSE:To obtain an optical isomer capable of remarkably improving the optical resolution efficiency and useful as a medicine, etc., by treating a specific mixture of optical isomers under specified conditions, selectively and efficiently extracting and separating either of the optical isomers. CONSTITUTION:This method for extracting and separating an optical isomer is to extract and separate a mixture of optical isomers expressed by the formula [X is O, NH or NR<101> (R<101> is an organic group); R<11> is an organic group; R<72> to R<74> each is H or an organic group; one or more of carbon atoms to which R<12> and R<13> are bound are asymmetric carbon atoms] such as a beta-amino-alcohol or a beta-(substituted amino)alcohol in the presence of boric acid (salt) and a 1,2-diol such as a tartaric acid diester between two liquid phases of an organic phase such as methylene chloride and an aqueous phase and selectively extract and separate either of the optical isomers of the compound expressed by the formula into either of the liquid phases. |
