Continuous wire plating plant - with vertical parallel wire loop immersion

In a continuous electrolytic wire and tape plating plant the material is passed repeatedly through one or several baths. In each bath are provided two horizontal parallel rolls with parallel grooves. One is above the bath and is electrically conducting, feeding current to the wire and is rotated by a suitable drive, the other is made from and insulating material and is immersed in the bath. Pref. the lower roll is a freely running follower made up of several separately freely rotatable discs which may rotate at different speeds. Both rolls may be tapered in the processing direction of the loops of the wire being passed between the rolls. The method has a low floor space requirement and results in stress free plating preventing the formation of surface cracks.
