PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recording/reproducing video signals for a long time to/from a storage medium of a small capacity. SOLUTION: A motion detection circuit 12 detects motion information of an image from a received video signal (Vin) and a frame removing sequencer 13 to set a field to be frame-removed is driven based on the motion information and frame removing is conducted by the output of the frame removing sequencer 13. A 1st frame removing circuit 13 is used for a master image and applies frame removing to still image information mainly and provides the output of the result, and a 2nd frame removing circuit 14 is used for a small screen image and its output video data indicate an image with comparatively many numbers of frames resulting from segmenting a motion image. The two video data are compressed by compression circuits 15, 18 and recorded by memories 21, 22 via a multiplexer 26, and data in a memory 23 storing framing data denoting frame removing information are stored in a storage medium 26 that is a hard disk or the like via a multiplexer 25. |
