<p>A soln. of 48-50% NaOH is atomised in a reaction chamber through which a stream of hot exhaust gas flows. The gas temp. is maintained >100 degrees C, so that with the heat produced in the exothomic reaction, direct dehydration and drying of the product is achieved in a single stage reaction. Excess caustic soln. produced during Cl2 mfr by electrolysis is conveniently and economically converted to Na2CO3 using any exhaust gas contg. >10-12% CO2.</p> |
