PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video record playback device for realizing the special playback of image data at a stable playback speed. SOLUTION: An image data stream is made up of video data having time information that indicates the playback time. Each image data is selected in the order of the playback time at prescribed playback intervals from the video data stream, in which each video data is arranged in order of time sequence of the playback time, and each selected video data is decoded and played back in the video record playback device 100. The video record playback device 100 includes a control unit 112 for measuring the decode-processing efficiency of the selected image data, each time the video data is selected, and adjusting the playback time interval for selecting the video data from the video data stream, on the basis of the measured decode processing efficiency, each time the decode processing efficiency is measured.
