PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin-made optical waveguide that is superior in heat resistance, free from optical leak and low in loss and that enables high performance and high reliability to be obtained and can be mass-produced at a low cost, and also to provide a manufacturing method of the waveguide. SOLUTION: In a flush type optical waveguide in which a transparent-resin- made core layer is covered with a clad layer made of a thermoplastic resin having a refractive index lower than that of the core layer, the clad layer is optically integrated in the optical waveguide. The optical waveguide may be covered with a resin whose coefficient of water absorption and thermal expansion are smaller than those of the clad layer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
