<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display capable of being made up by only simple alignment, eliminating such inconveniences that an array substrate having pixel electrodes and a counter substrate having common electrodes have conventionally had to be aligned precisely by using an alignment mark or the like in a color liquid crystal display adopting a multi-domain type VAN mode. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is so arranged that a pattern having 4-time rotational symmetry and line-asymmetry is formed of slits 16 or the like in a pixel electrode 17 on the array substrate 20.
